I'm

Bontalakoti Venkata Harshavardhan

Robotics Engineer

Aiming for "A Future Beyond Our Star"
I am presently an undergraduate student pursuing mechanical engineering from National Institute of Technology Silchar and Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad.

Fascination with machines such as virtual assistants, robots, drones, rockets and space rovers have always oriented my passion towards robotics and space engineering.

Robotics captivates me with its blend of mechanical design, electronics, and artificial intelligence. The idea of creating systems that interact with the world and perform complex tasks is exciting.

In addition to my technical pursuits, I am also drawn to philosophy, video games, novels, and anime. These interests provide me with a creative balance, offering fresh perspectives and insights for creating unique machines.

Internships

  • 2024
    Indian Institute of Technology Madras
    Summer Fellow

Selected for the prestigious Summer Fellowship Programme (SFP) in the Aerospace Department. Worked on an open-source ocean environment for ship and drone simulation.
    Supervisor: Dr.Devaprakash Muniraj

  • 2023
    Instruments Research and Development Establishment(DRDO)
    Summer Intern

Entrusted with the critical task of designing and analyzing ammunition mountings for drones, terrain vehicles, and naval vessels. Played a key role in conceptualizing an innovative approach to utilize Ocean Buoys for advanced coastline surveillance.

Research Experience

  • Current
    Lulea University of Technology
    Research Intern

Working on ROS2 and Gazebo simulations for navigation of robots in difficult and unchartered terrains.

  • 2022-2024
    National Institute of Technology Silchar
    Undergraduate Research Assistant

Tasked with the setup of a micro-stereo lithography system, and this entailed: conducting a detailed comparison between the printed outputs and actuators constructed using Nitinol springs.
    Supervisor: Dr.Yogesh Singh

Actively worked on the design and development of machine learning models. These models leveraged data from IoT devices to predict human activity patterns, contributing to a more informed understanding of user behavior in varying environments.
    Supervisor: Dr. Ramanujam E

Check out my Constructs

Cyclops- Personal Desktop Assistant Bot

A bot based on quantized Mistral 7B LLM running locally.

Quasar- A Solar Powered Bot

Our team took part in the ASME EFX Student Design Competition 2023 held in Bengaluru. I was responsible for creating the radio module as well as the power train which included using the solar panels to charge the array of super capacitors.

BADOSE: Boat and Drone Ocean Simulated Environment

BADOSE is an open-source simulator built with the Unity Engine and supported by a ROS 2 connection interface. The main aim of this simulator is to provide an environment capable of handling both drones and boats/ships along with the physics involving ocean turbulence and winds.

Human Navigator Based Cartography in ROS2.

The turtlebot3 is simulated to follow human's pose and then perform SLAM without any external controller.

SurviveRL- A multiagent reinforcement learning environment.

A Pygame based reinforcement learning environment made to train multiple agents for various use cases like swarm robotics and multi-agent interactions.

Transonic Flow Modelling in Ansys.

Modeled the transonic flow of air over the airfoil using ANSYS Fluent(CFD).

Blood Flow Analysis in a Bifurcated Artery using Ansys

Modeled the flow of blood in a Bifurcated Artery using ANSYS Fluent(CFD). Useful for creating micro/nano robots for drug delivery.

Design of Stair Climber Robot.

The inspiration for this design comes from the way caterpillars and snakes perform locomotion. Made using SolidWorks.

Mandelbrot Set Simulation.

Zooming of Mandelbrot set(fractal).
